BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI — Troy United battled in a tight matchup Saturday night at the Detroit Skating Club, ultimately falling 3–2 in overtime to the Lake Orion Dragons. Troy United struck first in the opening period on the power play when Senior Breiden Blaeske (Athens High School) buried a feed from Joey Clark (Troy High School) to take a 1–0 lead. TU extended its advantage in the second period when Clark scored on a setup from Junior Josh Schmidt (THS), putting Troy up 2–0. However, a turnover at the blue line late in the period gave Lake Orion a prime opportunity, and the Dragons capitalized to cut the lead to 2–1 heading into the intermission. Lake Orion carried momentum into the third, generating sustained pressure and keeping Troy United on its heels. The Dragons tied the game off an offensive-zone faceoff, knotting the score at 2–2. Both goaltenders stood tall throughout the remaining regulation time, sending the game into overtime. Troy United produced the first quality chances in the extra frame, but Lake Orion converted on a shot from the top of the circle that beat goaltender Noah Dumas (AHS), securing the 3–2 final. Troy drops to 5–2 on the season and returns to home ice on Wednesday, December 3, to take on Ann Arbor Huron. Story by: Jason Clark Photo credit: Shannon Blaeske
