Troy, MI — Troy United defended home ice Saturday night with a 4–1 win over the North Oakland Eagles in a key league matchup. Senior Ben Dumas (Athens High School) set the tone early, striking quickly off an offensive-zone faceoff to put TU on the board. Both teams spent extended time in the penalty box throughout the opening period, ultimately finishing the first frame shorthanded. The second period saw Troy United earn over four consecutive minutes of power play time, but North Oakland’s senior goaltender Julius Livernois stood tall and kept the game close with several key saves. TU finally broke through halfway through the period when senior Alex Lowry (AHS) fired a quick snap shot off a feed from Breiden Blaeske (AHS). Moments later, junior Josh Schmidt (Troy High School) extended the lead to 3–0, scoring on a power-play goal directly off a faceoff. In the third period, Troy United capitalized on the power play once again as Dumas netted his second goal of the night, pushing the lead to 4–0. The Eagles managed to spoil the shutout late in the period with a shorthanded goal. The boys are back in action on Wednesday, December 10th at 8:00 PM, when they host Wyandotte Roosevelt on home ice.
