Troy opened the season with a gritty 33–20 road win over Kettering, leaning on a strong first quarter and balanced scoring to secure the victory. The Colts set the tone early with an aggressive start, putting up 17 points in the opening quarter to take control of the game. Maci Zeiter and Olivia Spangler led the way offensively, each finishing with 7 points, while Troy’s tempo and defensive pressure created early separation. As the game progressed and scoring slowed, Troy relied on toughness and teamwork to maintain the lead. Riley Courtney and Olivia King each added 6 points, providing key baskets that helped steady the offense during critical moments. While the offense ebbed and flowed, Troy’s defense remained consistent, holding Kettering to just 20 points on the night. Strong bench energy, rebounding, and effort carried the team through stretches when shots didn’t fall. Troy wasn’t perfect, but they were connected, resilient, and willing to fight for one another—exactly what you want to see on opening night.
