Troy, MI — Troy United continued its strong play Saturday night, earning a 6–1 win over the Riverview Cabrini Pirates on home ice. Alternate captain Kaiser Ascencio (Athens High School) opened the scoring in the first period, but the Pirates answered with a power-play goal, sending the teams into the first intermission tied 1–1. Troy United erupted in the second period with a three-goal surge. Ascencio struck again with a wraparound goal, followed by a top-corner finish from Tyler Jewell (Troy High School). Alternate captain Ben Dumas (AHS) added another to push the lead to 4–1. In the third period, Ascencio completed his hat trick with a power-play goal, and senior defenseman Quentin Gatto (THS) capped off the scoring to make it 6–1. Despite Riverview Cabrini entering the game with two forwards among the state’s leading scorers, lockdown Troy United defense and strong goaltending held the Pirates’ top threats off the scoresheet.
