Troy High Softball Dominates Avondale in Statement Doubleheader Sweep

Colts Roll to 17–0 and 20–1 Wins Behind Explosive Offense and Strong Pitching TROY, Mich. — April 9, 2026 — The Troy High Softball team delivered a commanding performance Thursday, sweeping Avondale Varsity Yellow Jackets in a dominant doubleheader at Troy High School. The Colts showcased depth, discipline, and energy in 17–0 and 20–1 victories, combining relentless offense with shut‑down pitching and flawless defense. Game 1: Troy High 17, Avondale 0 Troy High set the tone immediately in the opener, erupting for 11 runs in the first inning and adding six more in the second to secure the shutout. Seestedt led the charge at the plate, going a perfect 3‑for‑3 with a triple and three RBIs, while Corley added three hits, including multiple extra‑base knocks. The Colts tallied 12 hits and demonstrated patience with eight walks, while swiping seven bases. In the circle, Harris was dominant, tossing three hitless innings with five strikeouts and no walks. Troy High also turned in a clean defensive performance, committing zero errors. Game 2: Troy High 20, Avondale 1 The Colts carried their momentum into Game 2, exploding for 13 runs in the first inning and tacking on seven more in the second. Seestedt provided the game‑changing moment with an inside‑the‑park home run, driving in three runs, while Bultynck added another inside‑the‑park homer in the second inning. Troy High continued to apply pressure, drawing 14 walks and stealing 11 bases to keep Avondale on its heels. Sobotka earned the start in the circle and delivered a strong outing, allowing just one run over 2⅔ innings, striking out six. The Colts once again played error‑free defense to close out the sweep.
